East Coast Trip 2012 – Welcome aboard!

Dear East Coast trip family,

In about two months, we will depart for our big adventure to Washington DC, Amish Country, Philadelphia, and New York City. I love history travel and I'm very excited to see some of our nation’s greatest landmarks and treasures. I am especially excited to share these treasures with your son or daughter this spring. Since I am now teaching at West Ranch High School, this trip is especially meaningful for me as this will be my final year as leader of the Rio Norte East Coast Trip. I plan to make your child’s trip the best one ever I’ve ever led.

After many months of our roster growing and changing, we finally know for certain who is going on our trip, so it is now time for me to let you know about some important dates:

Tuesday, February 7, 2:15pm, Rio Norte Room D-6 – ROOMMATE meeting
This is what so many students have been waiting for! Here is your chance to meet everyone who is going on the trip. We have 21 girls going (three rooms of four girls and three rooms of three girls) and 18 boys (three rooms of four boys, two rooms of three boys).  We will start with some icebreaker activities to get to know everyone, and then we’ll get down to the business of choosing roommates. This meeting is intended for students and teachers. If your child cannot attend this meeting, he/she may wish to designate a friend to speak on their behalf regarding rooming decisions. Our meeting will conclude by 3:30.

Tuesday, February 21, 2:15pm, Rio Norte Room D-6 – Student meeting
Topics to be announced

Tuesday, March 6, 2:15pm, Rio Norte Room D-6 – Student meeting
Topics to be announced

Tuesday, March 13, 7:00pm, Rio Norte Library – Pre-Departure Meeting
Organized by USA Student Travel, and hosted by both myself and our tour company rep, this meeting will go over the specifics of the trip.  We finally get to see our exact itinerary, hotel and flight information.  Now that we know for sure everyone who is going on the trip, our tour company is working hard right now making final arrangements to secure the very best flights and hotels possible. This meeting is MANDATORY for the traveling student and at least one parent/guardian to attend.

Here is my very IMPORTANT request right now:  please e-mail me back just to simply say, “Yes, you have the right e-mail address, Mr. Ippolito.” I got all these e-mail addresses from the Rio Norte database back in May 2011, so some may be out of date. I will communicate with you via e-mail at LEAST once a week from now until our departure.  It’s very important that I have at least one e-mail address that your family checks regularly.  Also, please let me know if you would like to add any additional e-mail addresses (other parent, child going on trip, etc.) to get all this information as well.

If you ever miss one of these e-mails, it gets accidentally deleted, or you wonder if maybe you missed one, you can see an archive of every message on my East Coast Trip website,
http://www.IppTrip.com.

You can also stay connected to the trip on Twitter and Facebook.  You can "Like" our trip page at http://www.facebook.com/IppTrip or follow on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/IppTrip.  Finally, you can get updates sent to you as a text message on ANY cell phone (regular cell phone or smartphone) by texting the words follow ipptrip to 40404. These Twitter text alerts are free and do not require you to sign up for a Twitter account. Standard text rates apply.

This is a big trip, and you are placing your child into my care for a week.  Please feel free to e-mail me at rippolito@gmail.com (this is the e-mail address I check wherever I go) or call or text message me directly at (661) 347-4990 if you ever have any questions about the trip as we get closer to Spring Break.

All the best,
Ron Ippolito
